Ibiza Horse Valley is a non-profit sanctuary with no government support. We rescue horses that were neglected, abused, or abandoned. Horses that once had no voice, no choice, no freedom.
Many arrive broken, scared, or shut down. All of them find healing here. Not through training or pressure, but through space, safety, and the natural support of the herd.
Our rehabilitation programme with lifelong care comes with responsibility and limits. Too many times we have to say no to another horse in need, simply because we cannot take another horse on our budget. Having to say no is devastating because often we are the last option they have… help us to say yes.
We cannot save all horses, but we can change the lives of those we do.
The Valley is a living testament to what becomes possible when horses are given time, space, and the freedom to be. Something begins to shift. Once they find safety in the herd and begin to trust again, they choose entirely out of their own free will to support humans in their healing.

Hay and Hardfood
Feeding a free roaming rescue herd is one of our most consistent responsibilities. Horses need access to hay throughout the day to stay healthy, regulated, and calm. Some members of the herd also require specialised hardfood to support age, chronic conditions, or long term recovery.
We offer low sugar diets for horses with laminitis or Cushing’s and senior blends for our elders who need softer or more easily digestible feed.
Examples:
• Tibou, approaching forty, relies on senior hardfood to support digestion, weight maintenance, and energy levels.
• Pieps, who lives with severe laminitis and Cushing’s, requires carefully controlled low sugar hay and metabolic support every day to keep her condition stable.Your support helps us keep every member of the herd nourished in the way their body needs.

Veterinarian and Medication
Many of our horses live with chronic conditions caused by years of neglect, overbreeding, or intense physical careers. Veterinary support is part of daily life at the Valley. It includes regular checkups, medication, pain management, diagnostic visits, and emergency treatments when a horse suddenly declines.
• Pieps and Tibou both receive daily Cushing’s medication. A Prascend tablet costs €1.75, and each requires half a tablet per day to stay stable.
• Peachy, who suffers from respiratory issues linked to heavy breeding, undergoes daily nebulizer treatments using medication such as Quantan and Ventilin. Her nebulizer medicine cups cost €50 each and need regular replacement.
• Emergency veterinary visits — for colic, lameness, or laminitis flare ups — cost €80 and are often unavoidable with rescue horses who have fragile histories.
• Every month, the herd receives natural supplements to support digestion, joints, and immune resilience.Your contribution allows us to respond immediately when a horse needs help and to provide the long term medical care that many of them cannot live without.

Farrier
A horse’s hooves are the foundation of their entire wellbeing. Healthy hooves influence posture, circulation, mobility, and comfort. Many horses who arrive at the Valley have hoof issues from neglect or years of physical strain, and they require careful, ongoing management.
A standard farrier visit costs €50 per horse, and some horses need trimming as often as every two to four weeks depending on their condition.
• Pieps, with chronic laminitis, relies on corrective trimming and protective boots to manage pain and keep her mobile.
• Tibou, blind and elderly, needs precise trimming to maintain safe movement throughout the Valley.
• Lucky, who was removed from a breeding programme for having a pigeon toe, requires more frequent hoof work to prevent long term imbalance and discomfort.Your support keeps the herd’s foundation healthy and ensures that even our most fragile horses can move with safety and ease.

Valley Maintenance
Caring for a free roaming rescue herd means caring for the land itself. The Valley requires constant maintenance to remain safe, accessible, and supportive for horses with very different physical needs.
This includes repairing fences, stabilising terrain, fixing water systems, maintaining shelters, and protecting hay from weather conditions.
• We built a dedicated shelter in the upper part of the Valley for Pieps, who cannot walk down steep or uneven paths due to her laminitis.
• Fences require regular repair, especially in areas where the herd moves together with force or curiosity.
• Heavy rains can damage parts of the terrain, which must be levelled to prevent slips or injuries — especially for our elderly horses.
• Our hay tent needs seasonal reinforcement to keep feed dry and safe from moisture, sun damage, and wind.These unseen tasks are what make a natural, free roaming life possible for the herd.
