Ibiza Horse Valley runs entirely on private support. No government funding and no commercial backing. Monique and Mya work every day to keep the herd safe, the sanctuary running, and the mission alive. A dedicated group of volunteers helps care for the herd week after week. And people around the world make all of it possible by choosing to support what is being built here. Between these three things, the Valley continues, and the horse world is shown, day by day, that another way exists.
sustain our work
The horses we rescue come to us neglected, abused, and emotionally shut down: reduced to shadows of their true nature. Considered ‘useless’ or beyond hope by the established horse industry we stand firmly against, many are discarded without the chance of a second life and are often saved from the brink of slaughter. Horses that had no voice, no choice, no freedom.
All of them return to their natural way of being. Not through training or pressure but through permanent safety, the structure of the herd, and time. The change that follows is not managed. It unfolds.
What we witness in this process is not just recovery. It is proof. Proof that the way the horse world treats horses is not inevitable. That dominance is not necessary. That control is not the only language available to us. Every horse that finds its way back to itself inside this Valley is a living argument for a different way of being with horses entirely.
This is why the advocacy matters and why it needs support just as much as the food bill does. Rescuing horses changes individual lives. Changing how the world sees horses changes everything. We are doing both, every single day.
This care is lifelong and it is costly. Too often we have to say no to a horse in need, simply because the budget will not stretch. Having to say no is one of the hardest parts of running a sanctuary. Every sponsor makes it less likely that we have to.
Sponsoring Ibiza Horse Valley is not a donation to a charity.
It is an investment in a different future for horses worldwide and a direct challenge to the status quo of an entire industry.
WHAT YOUR SUPPORT SUSTAINS
When you support the Valley, you are funding four things simultaneously:
THE HERD. Daily feed, veterinary care, farrier work, and the specialised treatments that horses with difficult histories often need. This is the foundation. Without it, nothing else exists.
THE SANCTUARY. Land maintenance, water, and infrastructure. The physical conditions that make genuine freedom possible for the horses. A free-roaming herd needs space that is properly kept.
THE OBSERVATION AND KNOWLEDGE. Sixteen years of daily presence alongside this herd has produced an in-depth understanding of horse behaviour, trauma recovery, and inter-species connection that exists nowhere else in quite this form. Sustaining the Valley sustains that knowledge.
THE ADVOCACY. The horse world is a multi-billion euro industry built on dominance, performance, and the treatment of horses as instruments. We are working against that with evidence, with presence, and with the herd itself as our argument. Your support funds that work.
how to Support:
Every bit of support matters, and there are many ways to stand with the herd.
-
Regular giving is what makes the Valley stable. Horses need daily feed, consistent veterinary care, farrier visits, and ongoing maintenance: costs that do not pause. Monthly sponsors are the foundation everything else is built on.
Even €10 per month makes a direct and sustained difference. Some sponsors prefer to direct their support toward a specific need:
Hay and hard feed
Veterinary treatments
Farrier work
Special needs and medical appliances: therapeutic shoes, medicines, operations
Valley maintenance
A specific horse
Monthly sponsorship is open to anyone, from anywhere in the world. You do not need to visit Ibiza to be part of what is happening here.
Become a sponsor and stand beside our herd. Small acts of generosity create big change.
-
If a monthly commitment is not right for you, a one-time donation goes directly to the care of the herd and the running of the sanctuary.
-
The Valley is open to guests by appointment. In small groups, personally guided, and unlike anything most people have experienced before. Every visit directly funds the daily care of the herd and the continuation of our work.
What you will find here is not a tourist experience. It is time spent inside a living sanctuary with a free-roaming herd.
Visits are by appointment only. We would love to welcome you.
-
It is with the help and kindness of family, friends & volunteers that the Valley keeps going.
Volunteering in the Valley revolves around helping with feedings & spending time with our herd, taking care of them.
Minimum requirements for becoming a volunteer in the Valley:
A big heart in general, and especially for horses.
Available at least once a week, year-round
Your own transport
Lives in Ibiza
We would like to give a big thank you to all of you who have volunteered so far and helped to keep the Valley going!
We also welcome support in other forms: skilled labour, writing, film editing, field work, and manual help. If you feel called to offer time or talent, reach out.
-
The most important thing you can do for the Valley beyond financial support is carry our message further. Tell people what is happening here. Share what you know about the herd, the research, the advocacy. Help us reach the researchers, institutions, journalists, and individuals who need to know this work exists.
If you can be an active voice for Ibiza Horse Valley and the change it represents, we want to hear from you.
